New tag

Here is my latest tag. I used beads, distress inks, paper flowers and stamps. The bird is made from a coffee filter, stained with distress ink. I used my gel pens to outline the bird and colour in the flowers and leaves. Still working on my lettering and outlining but guess it'll take practice, practice and more practice. Ah, well. I've got three days off so will try to "create" more stuff this weekend.

Happy Easter everyone!

Jewellry

I am trying something new for me. I am making charms. Since I am not very profficient at doing jewellry, I'm afraid these may not be what was required for my swap. Not sure of the size. These are about the size of a quarter. I am using paper clay which air drys so I don't have to "cook" anything. I must admit that they were lots of fun and I really liked trying to do all the shapes. Hope someone will give me a yea or nay on whether these are OK.

I used some glimmer mist on one or two but I can't see any difference. Oh yes, and just a little sparkle with my red stickles.

My next photo is of some hat pins that I made for another swap. They were fun too. I had lots of odds and ends of beads so didn't have to purchase anything in order to take part in this swap. I had been rather reluctant to join any more swaps, feeling a little less than able to create anything but things seemed to be turning around and I am doing more art now. Maybe Spring is really on its way!! Hope I can get all my swaps mailed out in time. Saturday will be post office day and then its on to more projects. Not sure what I will tackle next. I think I will do some more journalling and perhaps get back into ATCs.
Cheerio for now....

It's finally Spring!! The weather is becoming warmer and certainly making me feel more like doing art. I spent a good part of my day tidying up my craft room. I found things I had long forgotten about. I created this tag just because. Wasn't sure what direction I was going in. I just let it happen - gotta try that more often.

This fellow and a large group of his friends were enjoying the weather too, in the neighbour's wild cherry tree. A whole flock of cedar waxwings flew in for a quick bite and then were gone.

new photos

Had lots of fun altering some of my photos after taking the Skinny Mini course. The possibilities are endless. Hope to use some "altered" photos in my journals. Once life settles down a little and Spring finally shows herself, maybe my Muse will come back so I can play again.

New stuff

Got two more journal pages done. Have tried a couple of new-to-me techniques. The first is one I saw on Milliande's site. Now that I've tried it, there are a few things that I would change for next time.

The second one is my attempt to create a Claudine Hellmuth style page. Not so successful - hope to be better next time.

This last one is a card I made for a sick little girl, in the hospital with leukemia. Hope she likes it and she feels better for a moment.
More postings to follow....

Journal

Finished my second journal page. Now I need to start the next page. I am really unsure of how to proceed. Guess the best thing to do is just sit and see what comes to mind. If you have any good ideas, leave me a comment.

Cinderella shoe

Finally finished my Cinderella show. Turned out not too bad. I might even try another one. I had to fight with the glue part but eventually figured out the best way to do it. Second time should be better. I'm thinking that it would make a great centerpiece for a little Princess birthday cake. A glass shoe would be better but harder to make. I am going to try to do a shoe in clay to see what I can do with that. Pictures to follow...

Blog hop

I did a little blog hopping tonight and saw some fabulous art. Check it out and you could even win some yummy stuff - http://poorscrapbooker.blogspot.com/. Enjoy the tour!!

Woohoo! Got my first journal page done. Its nothing fabulous but its done. Now to work on the rest. Feels more like pulling teeth than free flowing art but guess that will come with practice.
To be continued.....

I attended a Vision Board workshop and this is the result. It certainly shows that "my" time is at hand. It was very enlightening and the end result was far different that I imagined it would be. The teacher was excellent and had so many ideas for us to use. Here is the link to her site. Enjoy your visit - www.collageyourworld.com

New year, new start

Happy 2011!!
I hope this year is an artfilled one for everyone.
I plan to update my blog more often and post more art projects that I complete. This year its all about me and my art and I want to really get into it. I have great plans for new projects and new techniques to try out.
Here are a few projects leftover from December. A couple of scraplings and a calendar page that I traded with my AFTCM group. I am working on my daily journal and will post pictures of the pages as I do them. I did a couple of small cards too but that is not at all what I enjoy. Need more practice.

I'm very excited to start my new journal project. I'll post my process. All I need to do is work in my journal 10 minutes a day. This may be the start of a wonderful art journey.

New projects

Fall is definitely in the air here. The grandkids say it feels like Halloween. At last the really hot muggy weather has disappeared.

I finally found some time to spend in my craft room. Since I have started re-organizing it, I had to put everything in boxes to move furniture around to make way for my new storage unit. So far it is great. I would like to get another if I can make room. Now I have to unpack everything and put it away in some kind of logical order (no easy task for me who forgets just about everything). My husband tells everyone that if I put it away its not only in a safe place but filed under forgot. I sure hope this new reorg means that I will finally know where stuff is and not have to spend 3 hours searching for what I want and find it in a very unlikely spot.

I am in a domino book swap with my Creative Mind group and actually finished it on time. Not sure if its what is expected but hope my partner is OK with what I did. I also sent my I Hear a Symphony ATC's but forgot to take pics. Hope my partner does so that I can post here.

My next project is two Witchy torso tags. I have some ideas but first need to print off the template. Will post when I get them done.

My last big project is a calendar. I have 12 pages of the month of May to do. Lots of ideas rolling around in my noggin but need to get them on paper so that I can firm things up. Hope to be able to post a sample soon. I've got some Christmas projects to do too but can't post until after Christmas because you never know who is being naughty and trying to peek.

Got myself some flower dies this weekend and oooh are they fun. I have tried making flowers out of almost everything. Need to pick 8 to send off for a swap so will sign off now and try to post a little more often.

Queen of the Night

Our Queen of the Night plant finally flowered! It only flowers once and at night. We were able to get a bunch of photos this time. It flowered last year but we missed it. My son (who brought the plant home) was pretty excited. It is a huge flower and very aromatic.

Steampunk

Tried my hand at some Steampunk. Not really sure what to do but jumped in and tried. We were asked to make a necklace out of a small tin but I am not sure if anyone will want to wear what I did as it seems so large. Had lots of fun looking for old bits and borrowed my son's tin snips to do some parts. I made this into a little memory box - it just felt right! I used crackle and alcohol inks on the front, alcohol inks on the sides and inside. There is also some distress ink smooshed in there in places. I have to send this off in the mail on Monday. Hope my partner is OK with this - I actually like it which is unusual for me. Oh well, off to try a couple of other things to see if I can get the stuff out of my head into some form on my craft table. Not feeling too spectacular today - sinus with a touch of bronchitis. Maybe crafting will make everything feel so much better.

Here are a couple of pics of my steampunk project.

I have been out trying to get some shots of the wild turkeys and think I finally got one I like. They are had to photograph - they are pretty timid and run away.

Spring is here and everything is green and ready to explode with colour.

I received two "Green" ATC's from Val on my Art for the Creative Mind group. Yahoo is not letting me upload to that site so I am displaying my "art gifts" here.

I also received my first of two altered envelopes. These are my favourite colours and I am not sure if I want to part with this envelope and send it to anyone.

Collaborated book swap

I finally got all my pages put together from this latest swap. I got so many great pages from some very talented artists. I was responsible for doing the front and back covers only. Feast your eyes on the wonderful pieces that I received.

It was up to me to do the covers and put the book together. Boy oh boy, that was not easy. My book making skills are poor to non-existant.
Here are the covers that I did.

About Me

My photo
I am an avid photographer. My favourites are flowers, animals, nature. I have recently gotten into mixed media arts - painting, collage, ATC's and sketching. Lots of my photos are taken with art in mind. I live in the country with my husband, two dogs and a cat. I have two wonderful grandkids who visit often and keep me laughing. My motto is: Look for the good stuff in everything and everybody!
